Eczema Simple Solutions

Posted on 23 March 2010 by admin

There are many Simple Solutions to get relief from Eczema that have nothing to do with Doctors or Medications. Many people find themselves confused and disappointed after seeking medical attention for their eczema. Here are a couple proven solutions to help you with the problems associated with eczema.

Change Your Diet-Eating Right To Control Eczema

Your diet plays a very important role in how you can keep your eczema under control. Eating the wrong foods can trigger a reaction very quickly. Unfortunately, most people don’t even know that what they’re eating could be the cause of their eczema showing up. It has been known for quite some time now that foods that are highly acidic are a major contributor to Eczema flare ups. Cutting down on highly acidic foods will have great benefits for you if you suffer with eczema. Consider taking a natural kelp supplement which can be found in most health stores. This will help with the levels of acidity in your body.

Moisturizing Your Skin

Keeping your skin moisturized is extremely important. What you moisturize your skin with is also important. Try to use a moisturizer that is unscented. The scenting agents found in most moisturizers can cause your eczema to become worse. You need to moisturize your skin at least twice a day. Do this in the morning and evening. It is best to moisturize immediately following your shower or bath. Be sure when you dry yourself, that you do not rub the towel on your body, but rather pat yourself dry. Applying the moisturizer immediately after patting yourself dry will help your body absorb the moisturizer for effectively.

Know How To Dress

Replacing your clothing and bedding with 100% cotton is the way to go to help prevent minor irritation that can cause a long term problem. Do away with any clothing, bedding, or towels that irritate your skin. Think about switching to a natural unscented detergent and fabric softener. Regular detergents and softeners can cause havoc to your skin.

Vitamin E Cream

Applied directly to areas affected by Eczema, Vitamin E is excellent as it has anti microbial qualities that are proven to be affective. The majority of discomfort and itching associated with eczema are caused by  microbes and bacteria. It is also important to use natural vitamin E, not the synthetic brands.

These solutions will help you with the problems that are associated with eczema.

Eczema Clothing – Reduce The Irritation

Posted on 23 February 2010 by admin

We all know, or those of us who have suffered with eczema, know how sensitive the skin is and the least little thing can bring on an eczema break-out. One of the most common irritants of eczema is clothing, obviously because it has more contact with the skin than anything else. Following are some tips to keep in mind when choosing your “eczema clothing”.

Following are factors that may contribute to the flare-up of eczema.

1) Over-heating Firstly, the skin likes to breathe and in most cases of the eczema sufferer, another factor high up there on the irritant scale is skin over-heating and sweating. Therefore it is vital to keep the skin cool. Materials such as leather, artificial leather, silk, denim and rubber are all candidates for potential irritation. In the winter there maybe less cause for concern, however, as a general rule, these materials are irritation alerts.

2) Scratchy Irritation Next are the scratchy, culprits. Skin that is prone to eczema is sensitive to material that is abrasive therefore causing interference with the top layer of skin and consequently causing itching and discomfort. Toddler eczema can be exascerbated by rough clothng. This is not necessarily purely for eczema sufferers but sensitive skin in general.

Materials such as linen, wool and polyester are the worst offenders with acrylic sometimes causing upset. If you have clothes with such material, try wearing a softer material underneath.

3) Soft Is Best The only material, which is luckily the most common material for clothing, is cotton, 100% cotton. Those who are not allergic to wool, can also wear cashmere and other soft wools.

Cotton, is light but keeps you warm and is very soft on the skin. As “eczema clothing” goes it is by far the best option and in many cases can prevent eczema to break out at all.

Clothes that are mostly cotton, with a blend of another material maybe ok, however it must be predominantly cotton for maximum benefit.

This also goes for underwear, night clothes, sheets and anything else which is coming into close proximity of the skin for an extended period of time.

Clothing is a huge cause for individuals to suffer an eczema attack, however there are many other avoidance measures and natural methods to combat and prevent eczema out-breaks to create a fully-comprehensive remedy for eczema. Eczema Clothing – What To Wear & What Not To Wear

Posted on 23 February 2010 by admin

There are many causes for eczema to appear and be perpetrated, however one of the top causes is due to certain types of clothing. Following I will explain what materials to avoid and why and better alternatives for eczema clothing.

Materials to avoid

One of the worst offending materials for eczema is polyester. This seemingly innocent material can cause the skin to sweat and although it seems light, polyester has minute scratchy fibres that could soon see you scratching for dear life. It is also a good idea to avoid other man-made materials such as acrylic.

Materials which may cause eczema

Woollen clothes can cause extreme allergies in some people and milder to no allergies in others. However, if you have had any prior discomfort and itching while wearing wool, it is best to avoid it altogether. This includes, cashmere blends, mohair, Merino wool, woollen blankets, socks, scarves and hats.

Denim and leather have also been known to cause irritation due to a build up of heat. Again, if you have had a bad experience when wearing these materials but didn’t put it down to your clothing, you can be extra vigilant the next time and potentially banish these materials from your wardrobe.

The only eczema clothing material 100% guaranteed not to cause an allergy

Is cotton. Cotton is a miracle material that is perfect for eczema sufferers and can be worn with complete confidence that no allergy will take place due to your clothing. There are various forms of cotton such as Egyptian cotton with very fine fibres, however any 100% cotton product will be fine.
